On Thursday, BlackBerry officially launched their first android smartphone dubbed as BlackBerry Priv for Indian market. This new smartphone carries a steep price tag of INR 62, 990. BlackBerry Priv will be available online through Amazon.in and on retail stores from this Saturday.

After going up for pre-orders, BlackBerry Priv has been already sold outside Indian markets such as in Canada and United States during the month of November, 2015. Okay enough with the facts, now lets see the specification details.

BlackBerry Priv runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box with custom user interface on top of it. This latest premium smartphone features 5.4 inch quad high definition display with screen resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels with AMOLED display screen. The pixel density of Priv is 540 pixels per inch.


BlackBerry Priv is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 chipset with hexa core processor (dual core Cortex A57 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz and a quad core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.44 GHz) and is coupled along with 3 GB of main memory (RAM) and for graphics options, Priv is equipped with Adreno 418 GPU chip. BlackBerry Priv is packed with a powerful and massive 3410 mAh battery and is claimed to deliver up to 22.5 hours of mixed usage.

Regarding the storage space, BlackBerry Priv comes with 32 GB of inbuilt storage space and has option to expand up to 2 TB of memory space with help of an external microSD card. The camera specs include an 18 MP primary camera and 2 MP front snapper. The primary camera has features like PDAF, optical image stabilization, 4K video recording and has a dual LED flash light. The front camera also supports HD video recording.

The connectivity options of BlackBerry Priv includes WiFi, Bluetooth v4.1, FM radio, 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, micro USB, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC etc. Priv is equipped with gyroscope, proximity sensor, altimeter, accelerometer, time of flight (ToF), ambient light sensor, magnetometer and activity monitor.
