Run Linux Mint 16 over windows using Virtualbox

Linux Mint 16 is a latest operating system in Linux distribution and its graphical user interface is remarkably improved and it also has some great features than its previous version. Okay, so lets dig into the topic on how to run Linux Mint 16 over windows using Virtualbox. Virtual box is similar to VMware but this is an open source software tool from Oracle.

Things needed,

First download and install virtual box from [button color=”red” size=”small” link=”http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/virtualbox/downloads/index.html?ssSourceSiteId=otnjp” target=”blank” ]HERE[/button]

Then download Linux Mint 16 from [button color=”red” size=”small” link=”http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php” target=”blank” ]HERE[/button]

After installing virtual box, open it and in the home screen click on “New

Now a new windows opens, enter the name and select the type and version from the list and click NEXT

Now in this window, set the RAM size for the virtual machine and click NEXT.

In hard drive window, click on ” create a virtual hard drive now  ” and click CREATE.

Now hard disk file type will appear, select the option VDI and click NEXT.

Now in this window, select ” dynamically allocated ” and click NEXT.

Set the name and directory where the virtual machine have to be saved and click CREATE.

Now it has been created, click on ” Start

Select start-up disk prompt box will appear, set the directory where the ISO file of Linux mint 16 operating system is stored and click START.

start the virtual machine Now Linux mint 16 will start booting and thus mint is running over windows operating system with the help of Oracle’s virtual box.
