Create WiFi Hotspot on laptop

Create WiFi Hotspot on laptop with just few steps.

First open your CMD (command prompt) as an administrator.

Step 1: Enter the following

                    netsh wlan show drivers          

and press enter.

Step 2: Now enter the next command

             netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=”name” key =”password”    

and press enter.

N.O.T.E: Dot not use QUOTATION SYMBOL ( ” ” ).i used it to let you know that it is user defined.

While typing the commands the “ssid” is WiFi hotspot name and “key” is  the password for your WiFi Hotspot. There should be no spaces in-between name and password .Here i used ssid and password as arravind.You can set any name and password for your WiFi Hotspot.

Step 3: Now enter the next command to start WiFi Hotspot.

               netsh wlan start hostednetwork     

and press enter.

Now your network has been started.You can connect your mobile phones,laptops,Ipods. You can even connect with your desktops, provided if you have USB  Wireless adapter for your desktop.

Step 4: To stop the hosted WiFi Hotspot enter the following command

                  netsh wlan stop hostednetwork

and press enter.Now your WiFi Hotspot has been stopped.

Every time you want to start your WiFi Hotspot,Open CMD (command prompt) as administrator and use step 3 and to stop the WiFi Hotspot use step 4.

At step 1 if it shows “Hosted Network Support : No”,do the following steps.

Open the networks and sharing center from control panel and now click on the network connection you have.In my case it is Airtel.

Now click on sharing tab

Now check the options as shown.In the highlighted boxes the second one is optional but first one is a must.

Now repeat the steps to create WiFi Hotspot and it will work fine and if not,try updating  your WiFi drivers to latest version.It work well in windows 7,Vista,8.If still there is a problem leave a comment,solutions will be provided.
