Micromax Canvas Tab P666 review

Micromax Canvas Tab P666- a short review

Hello there, this article is dedicated for presenting a short review about the latest tablet from Micromax. This latest tablet is named Micromax Canvas Tab P666.

Usually most of the people think that 5.5 inch or 6 inch display screens are too big but that hasn’t stopped the manufacturers from pushing further. Micromax Canvas Tab P666 is a 8 inch tablet which has the support to make voice calls. It can also be called as phablet. Commonly all have a SIM card slot for 3G support and in here it is also used for cellular networks for messaging and voice calls as well.Micromax Canvas Tab P666 is a entry level android device with less price. So lets go ahead and see whether its worth buying or not.

Design and feel

The best aspect in Micromax Canvas Tab P666 is that its design. The tablet is very much thin which measures 7.9 millimeters although its weight and blocky shape is not very good for comfort and grip. There are two metal strips running down on each side but it would have been much more attractive if it is fabricated.

This latest tablet – Micromax Canvas Tab P666 is available in two flavors and they are black and white. The physical power and volume control buttons are placed on right edge. The 3.5 mm jack and micro USB port is placed on the right top. The left side of the tablet is completely left blank. And at the bottom, a pair of speakers are placed.

At the back of Micromax Canvas Tab P666, there is a camera which is placed at a corner with no flash to accompany it. Anyway it wouldn’t fit in your pockets where it is like any other 8 inch tablet. In addition to that its build quality is not impressive as well.

Micromax Canvas Tab P666 fails to impress when it comes to performance either. We encountered some lagging while switching between apps and some of the apps took long time to open or close than usual. The graphics performance is not quite good but managed to get 8.9 fps in GFX and 5039 in 3D Mark Ice Strom test.

But it is a huge surprise that Micromax Canvas Tab P666 is able to play HD videos very well with no tearing effects on screen. Also it has good pair of speakers but with increased volume it shows some distortion.

The display is a bit grainy although it seems okay but not much suitable for daylight. The camera quality is not good which showed high levels of noise and poor definition of details. The main plus point to Micromax Canvas Tab P666 is that it comes with a good battery which lasts 7 hours and 50 minutes in video test.

The experience of using Micromax Canvas Tab P666 is not very pleasant but it has basic necessities which is required for a tablet but you will feel a slight discomfort with the un-necessary ads popping up. For those who look for cheap media android device with large screen Micromax Canvas Tab P666 is a good choice also it carries a low price and also 3G surfing isn’t bad. However don’t expect to play 3D games and if you plan to use it for calling purpose please buy a wireless headset (Bluetooth Headset).
